It was Albert Einstein who said that humans will never be peaceful whilst violence towards animals exists. I concur with this. Please stop this cruel and unacceptable practice immediately. I am vegetarian, but the banning of live exports to Indonesia is a step towards being a ‘great nation’, putting compassion ahead of profits. We are civilized, not barbaric. Australia can show others how to respect all creatures; great and small.

The studios would be lucky if “Wow” is as strong as the language gets. I do think that people will pay if there is a reasonably priced, convenient, legal alternative. iTunes proved that with music. Good luck to them, though, finding that sweet spot. – Andrew

I agree $30 is too much. A consumer will not put enough thought into the transaction to work out: 2 cinema tickets, parking, and snacks etc will likely be more expensive. They will simply see the $30 price tag and go: “wow – that’s expensive!”

And if the VOD release is anything more than a couple of weeks after a theatrical release, the $30 VOD product will likely be competing with a free bit torrent. And anyone with a decent home theatre setup and Pay TV that can access VOD will likely have broadband and a DVD burner as well. So I too, don’t see this idea making much of a dent.

I think we will see studios trial a number of strategies before finding one that works.
